The Spartan Hall of Fame Nominees Speak
As the Spartans enter their fifth year, the organization is acknowledging the hard work of five individuals who have been there from the beginning. The nominees are Strong Safety James Wright, Offensive Lineman Kevon Cupitt, Defensive Lineman Ramon Aguirre, Assistant Coach Richard Bisset and Cornerback Hassan Frazier.
Upon completion of their fifth season, these men will be eligible to enter the inaugural class of the Spartan Hall of Fame. The nominees expressed their surprise at and appreciation for this distinction.
“It’s an honor to me,” says Wright. “I never thought that I’d be nominated to be in any hall of fame.”
“I’m kind of excited,” Cupitt says. “I’ve never been nominated for something like that before.”
“It means a lot to me,” adds Aguirre. “It was unexpected. I’m at a loss for words.”
After four years of service, the nominees are reflecting on their career and what it takes to be a Spartan.
“I remember that first phone call to Coach Moss,” says Bisset. “I was on the phone with him for an hour and a half, two hours just talking football and I knew after I got off the phone with him that I was hooked.”
“It’s a brotherhood,” Aguirre says. “I put my loyalty into this team.”
“It takes a big effort, lots of commitment and dedication,” adds Frazier. “We’re family.”
Despite the excitement of being nominated as they enter this momentous fifth year, the nominees say they won’t lose focus.
“We’ve been through our ups and downs with this team,” Aguirre says. “All of us must stick together and play as one to make this fifth year a good year for the Spartans.”
“There’s no pressure,” Wright declares. “I’m going into this year as I’ve gone into every other year. I’m going to do my job.”
