Added Medical Safety, On and Off the Field
The New Jersey Spartans are proud to announce the addition of Gotham City Orthopedics’ Physicians, Dr. Sean Lager and Dr. Orlando Gonzalez as the official physicians of the New Jersey Spartans organization. After meeting both Lager and Gonzalez at Mountainside Hospital’s Sports Health Seminar, organization owners, Charmaine and Kevin Moss, knew that all four individuals had the same goal in mind, Safety.
Dr. Sean Lager, Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports Injury Specialist, is dedicated to providing compassionate patient care, the highest level of orthopedic treatment available, and incomparable professionalism. His specialties are in arthroscopy and the management of sports-related and severe traumatic injuries for children and adults. Dr. Lager completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore and received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania and received his Board Certification in July 2008.
Dr. Orlando V. Gonzalez is a Sports Medicine prevention and injury specialist who is also board certified in Family Medicine. He brings a unique perspective and approach to Sports Medicine care with his comprehensive understanding of Internal Medicine and its interaction with the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Gonzalez graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry and completed graduate studies in Neuroscience at The University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He then received his Medical Degree from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he completed a year of study in London, England as an international medical student.
In addition to the medical care of the players, coaches, and administrative staff, both Lager and Gonzalez bring their ImPact Test, provided by their non-profit organization, Cleared to Play.org. The ImPact Test provides pre and post concussion testing for not only athletes, but every day individuals. This test allows the doctors to compare the functionality of the brain and determine whether the brain has returned to its normal state after a serious head injury. The Spartans organization will assist Cleared to Play.org in spreading the importance of the ImPact Test.
Dr. Lager and Dr. Gonzalez will join the New Jersey Spartans’ Official Team Chiropractor, Dr. Nicholas Stabile of the Family Chiropractic Center of Nutley, who returns for his third year with the organization. Dr. Nick, as his patients refer to him, is a Certified Instructor for Chiropractic BioPhysics Technique (CBP). He received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life University in Atlanta, GA and his Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. With all three medical experts, the Spartans can assure proper medical treatment both on and off the field.
