NJ Spartans Make 2011 MLF Playoffs
The 2011 Major League Football Season has be a crazy roller coaster ride to say the least. The NJ Spartans opened the season the week after everyone else due to a schedule conflict. Then after playing 2 games, had another 2 weeks off due to another schedule conflict. Then, they traveled to Scranton, to face the Miners, although the final score wasn’t in their favor they built some much needed momentum with a new quarterback at the helm. However that momentum was squashed out when there was another schedule conflict that was paired with Hurricane Irene and Labor Day Weekend, they would not play another game until a whole month later versus the Jersey Wolves. Next the Spartans traveled to Maryland to face the Arbutus Big Red of the MDFL in out of league play, where the game ended in the Beginning of the 4th Quarter due to a very late start.
The Spartans finally returned home for a Triple Threat of 3 back-to-back home games. It started with the Philadelphia Phoenix, who were already out of the playoff running but determined to not let the Spartans get a free pass. Although they won the game it didn’t stop the Spartans Playoff chances. The 2nd of the 3 games continued as the Spartans played host to the Jersey Wolves in a rematch of the rivalry, that goes all way back to round 1 of the 2008 RAFL Playoffs. Lo and behold the Wolves won the game, but the Spartans kept on fighting and hoping for a chance to redeem this season of adversity by making the 2011 Post-Season. Now as the regular season is winding down the Spartans are faced with the final game of the regular season against the New Jersey Lions, although this weekends game doesn’t effect the Playoff seedings, because the Spartans were notified late Thursday Night that they he indeed been awarded the Final Playoff Spot in the Empire Conference. This game will still be played with 100% determination to beat the Lions, knowing that the Spartans will be playing them back to back, as they will travel to the Lions’ Den in round 1 of the 2011 Play-offs.
Stay tuned for more, as the SPARTANS continue their “Return to Glory!” AaaHhhOoo!!!
